Patterns are hardwired, into a complex universe. Pattern & Art: Visual Explorations, is a probe into how patterns inform and influence life. As an inquiry, it looks at where in life, and how, patterns manifest. To summarize, this exploration also examines how we, as a species, then respond.
We are shaped by pattern. And so are the lives of other species. We all interact and respond within a structured framework. Certainly, at times we act in similar ways when confronted by pattern. And at other times, we respond very differently from one-another. Often due to biophysical constraints.
Pattern & Art: Visual Explorations looks at those artworks where pattern appears. And at what role it plays when it does. Both conscious and not. As such, to grow as an artist, I am interested in ways I use pattern to advantage.
The unconscious is rooted in pattern. So, I explore it in narrative form. I am aware of what I see. And blinded by what, I cannot. I am locked in ways of being. It is the desire to see beyond what I understand, that drives my inquiry.
This category explores pattern across the Ecosphere. A global system, the Ecosphere, or Biosphere integrates all living beings. As well as their relationships. This includes those interactions with the elements of the lithosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere, and the atmosphere.
Rock, water, frozen or liquid, and the atmosphere all display some pattern. In essence, it is a rich and complex language. Patterns visibly transverse the strata of deep time.
The Noosphere is forged in pattern. The Noosphere as a concept, is a theoretical idea. In my art practice, the Noosphere is a vast empire of perception. In that manner, it forms a base for creative thought, and art making. And it forms, still more pattern.
